He voices doubts about the proposed border policies.
U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana spoke about bipartisan border security negotiations on Wednesday, signaling his skepticism of the proposed policies in his first formal speech to the floor of the House of Representatives.
Speaker Johnson stated, “From what we’ve heard, this so-called deal does not include transformational policy changes that are needed to actually stop the border catastrophe.”
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky has urged the House to take action, even if it means moving foreign military funding through along with updated border laws.
“It’s time for us to move something, hopefully including a border agreement. But we need to get help to Israel and to Ukraine quickly,” Senator McConnell said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Johnson to be led by the Lord as he oversees the business of the House of Representatives.
- For the Senate majority and minority leaders to be prudent as they negotiate appropriations proposals.
- For wisdom for members of both chambers of Congress as they deliberate government funding legislation.
